China and Kenya Elevate Bilateral Ties for ‘New Era’

Beijing: China and Kenya have agreed to elevate their relationship to what they describe as a 'China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era,' as outlined in a joint statement released by China's Foreign Ministry.

According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement came after a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kenyan President William Ruto in Beijing. Both leaders expressed their commitment to continuing strategic guidance through head-of-state diplomacy and maintaining close high-level exchanges. The joint statement emphasized the importance of deepening exchanges and cooperation at all levels and across various fields, including interactions between central and local governments, political parties, and legislative bodies. It also highlighted the significance of experience-sharing on governance and development.

President Ruto reaffirmed Kenya's commitment to the one-China principle, acknowledging that 'there is but one China in the world.' Ruto's visit to China began on Tuesday and spanned four days, during which he also held meetings with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
