Beijing: China on Tuesday expressed 'concern' over the US move to withdraw from the Paris Agreement on climate, state media reported. The Foreign Ministry's reaction came following newly inaugurated Donald Trump's decision to exit the pact, which establishes the UN's climate goals.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump's withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement was formalized soon after his inauguration on Monday, when he signed an executive order. He also signed another executive order to withdraw the US from the World Health Organization. In response, China's Foreign Ministry emphasized that China will "continue to support WHO in fulfilling its duties."

This decision marks Trump's second withdrawal from the climate agreement, having initially exited in 2019. Former President Joe Biden had promptly re-entered the accord on his first day in office, signaling a shift in US climate policy.

Trump was sworn in on Monday to commence his second non-consecutive term. During the previous Biden administration, the US and China engaged in several rounds of bilateral talks on climate change, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the two nations on this critical issue.
