China Urges Calm as Ukraine Deploys US Missiles and Russia Revises Nuclear Policy.

Beijing: China on Wednesday called for 'restraint, de-escalation,' and dialogue between Russia and Ukraine after Moscow updated its nuclear policy while Kyiv fired US-made long-range missiles, state media reported. According to Anadolu Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian addressed reporters in Beijing, emphasizing the need for calm amidst escalating tensions. "Under the current situation, all parties should remain calm and exercise restraint, promoting de-escalation through dialogue and consultation to reduce strategic risks," Lin stated. Lin was responding to inquiries regarding Moscow's adjustment of its nuclear weapons use threshold and Ukraine's deployment of long-range missiles into Russian territory for the first time since the conflict began in February 2022, reaching the 1,000-day mark. He reiterated China's consistent and clear stance on the Ukraine crisis. Beijing expressed hope for all involved parties to encourage de-escalation and commit to a political resolution of the Ukraine conflic t. Lin emphasized that China intends to continue playing a constructive role in facilitating a peaceful solution.
