Ankara: Turkish security forces conducted more than 40,500 operations in Trkiye and neutralized over 700 PKK/KCK terrorists in the first 10 months of 2024, the interior minister said Wednesday. Ali Yerlikaya stated that 722 terrorists were neutralized in 40,521 operations conducted in both rural and urban areas. According to Anadolu Agency, Yerlikaya reported that 4,177 operations were conducted against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) between Jan. 1 and Nov. 1, resulting in 935 arrests. Additionally, 655 detentions were made in 1,205 operations against the Daesh/ISIS terror organization. Yerlikaya emphasized that 92 terrorist attacks, 72 of which involved bombings, were thwarted in the first 10 months of the year. He also noted that 35 so-called high-level terrorists were neutralized so far this year. The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Trkiye, the US, and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths, including women, children, infants, and the elderly, in its 40-year terror ca mpaign against Trkiye. The YPG is known as the PKK's Syrian offshoot. Ankara accuses FETO of a long-standing campaign to overthrow the state through infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
