Tokya: China on Wednesday called for 'principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit,' in relations with the G7, state media reported. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning stated that Beijing has 'reiterated its position multiple times this year regarding the G7's erroneous remarks about the country.' According to Anadolu Agency, Mao emphasized that 'given the G7's proposal to establish constructive and stable relations with China and cooperate on global challenges, the group should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.' She highlighted the importance of translating words into actions, urging the G7 to cease what she described as attacks and smears against China. A joint statement released after a meeting of the bloc's top diplomats in Rome expressed the G7's intention to engage directly and candidly with China. The statement reaffirmed the group's readiness to cooperate with China to address global challenges, underscoring the importance of managing differen ces through constructive dialogue. Despite this, the G7 diplomats reiterated their opposition to Beijing's activities in the South China Sea and stressed the significance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. They also expressed concerns regarding China's alleged support for Russia's defense industrial base through its exports of dual-use materials.
