The Cyprus Shipping Chamber says in a press release that it unites its voice against the ongoing illegal attacks on merchant vessels in the Red Sea and the unjust detention of vessels and crews by Houthi rebels in Yemen and extends its heartfelt appreciation to the 12 nations that have jointly condemned these egregious actions. The Shipping Chamber commends the governments of the United States, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom for their immediate and strong response and calls upon the global community to continue working collaboratively to ensure the protection of sea routes and lives of those operating in the Red Sea. It notes that the protection of vessels and their crew members is of utmost concern and further action from more nations is paramount for the enforcement of international maritime laws and to foster an environment of security and stability in international waters for our seafarers and continuous global suppl y of goods.
