Aleppo: The number of deaths from an attack carried out by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Aleppo on Monday has risen to five, as reported by local authorities.

According to Anadolu Agency, an official from Aleppo Health Directorate's Media Office informed the state-run Alikhbaria TV that nine individuals sustained injuries in the attack, which targeted residential neighborhoods within the city. SDF fighters launched an assault late Monday, focusing on a checkpoint between the Shayhan and al-Layramoun roundabouts and the al-Razi Hospital, using machine-gun fire and mortar shells.

The Syrian Defense Ministry announced that several members of the group were neutralized following the attack. The SDF is primarily composed of the YPG, identified as the Syrian branch of the PKK, a recognized terrorist organization.

On March 10, the Syrian presidency declared an agreement for the SDF's integration into state institutions, emphasizing the country's territorial integrity and rejecting any division attempts. Syrian authorities have expressed concerns that the SDF has not demonstrated any commitment to fulfilling the agreement's terms since its signing.

Following the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime last December, after 24 years in power, the Syrian government has been intensifying its security measures.
