Drone Strike Sparks Fire at Yandex Data Center in Ryazan Region

Sasovo:A drone strike ignited a fire at a data center belonging to the Russian technology company Yandex in the Ryazan region, as reported by state media.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yandex informed the Russian state news agency Tass that the fire, resulting from the drone attack, occurred at its data center in the town of Sasovo, impacting part of its infrastructure. The company stated that relevant teams were dealing with the aftermath and confirmed that there were no injuries. They also noted that operations at the data center were suspended, which might lead to some services being unavailable to users.

Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov reported separately that two drones were shot down over the region overnight. He mentioned that in the Sasovsky district, a local enterprise's roof caught fire, and several private homes sustained damage, such as blown-out windows. Preliminary reports indicated there were no casualties, and emergency services were actively working at the scene.

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses had shot down 399 Ukrainian drones across 19 regions, including Ryazan, as well as over the Black Sea and Crimea, annexed in 2014. Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the strike.

The ongoing conflict has seen Moscow and Kyiv intensify strikes on each other's logistics centers, ports, and energy infrastructure, with both parties asserting that their targets are military or linked to military activities, denying deliberate attacks on civilian infrastructure.

Additionally, Ukraine's General Staff later claimed responsibility for an overnight attack on the Salavat oil refinery in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan, operated by the state-owned energy corporation Gazprom. Local authorities have yet to respond to this claim.
