Riyadh:Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has urged an immediate cessation of all attacks targeting Saudi Arabia during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. This appeal was made as part of discussions on regional developments and efforts to de-escalate the situation.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that Abdelatty emphasized the lack of justification for the attacks and the necessity of reducing tensions to prevent negative repercussions for regional security and stability. He also advocated for prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions, urging a return to negotiations and dialogue between Iran and the United States.
The conversation between Abdelatty and Araghchi included discussions on Yemen and other regional developments, as reported by Iran's Fars news agency. The call follows a recent Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which resulted in casualties and injuries.
Trkiye, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia issued a joint statement condemning the attacks and supporting Riyadh's measures to counter them. The ongoing conflict in Yemen has seen a resurgence of hostilities since July, following a UN-brokered truce earlier in the year.
