Cairo: Egypt has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on Syrian and Lebanese territories, criticizing them as violations of sovereignty and breaches of international law. The Egyptian Foreign Ministry issued a statement decrying the attacks and emphasizing the necessity of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both Syria and Lebanon.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry highlighted Egypt's firm stance against any interference in the internal affairs of Syria and Lebanon. The ministry stressed that these repeated violations contribute to regional instability and tension, undermining ongoing efforts, including those by Egypt, to promote security and stability in the region.

The condemnation followed Israeli airstrikes that targeted areas in southern Syria's Suwayda governorate and Daraa, occurring on Tuesday. These attacks coincided with Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra's announcement of a ceasefire in Suwayda after discussions with local leaders.

In Lebanon, Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday in Baalbek resulted in the deaths of at least 12 people and injuries to eight others. This attack marked another violation of the ceasefire agreement that followed the escalation between Israel and the Hezbollah group last September. Despite a ceasefire in November, Israeli forces have continued near-daily operations in southern Lebanon, aimed at Hezbollah activities.

Lebanese authorities have reported around 3,000 Israeli ceasefire violations since the truce, including the deaths of 236 people and injuries to over 540. The ongoing conflict has exacerbated tensions in the region, with international efforts, including those by Egypt, focused on de-escalation and maintaining regional peace.
