Dubai: Emirates announced a significant development on Monday by placing an order for 65 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, valued at $38 billion, during the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025. This move further solidifies Emirates' position as Boeing's largest customer for wide-body jets, and enhances its expansive fleet with a total of 315 wide-body aircraft from Boeing.

According to Anadolu Agency, this order underscores a substantial long-term commitment to US aerospace manufacturing. It is anticipated to support hundreds of thousands of high-value manufacturing jobs in the US throughout the lifespan of the Boeing programs. The Boeing 777-9, equipped with GE 9X engines, increases Emirates' order with GE Aerospace to 540 units.

The recent agreement also backs Boeing's feasibility study for the development of the 777-10. Emirates has signed options to convert its existing 777-9 order into either the 777-10 or the 777-8, further emphasizing its strategic partnership with Boeing and GE. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates' CEO, highlighted the order as a testament to their enduring partnership with these aerospace giants.

Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed pride in Boeing's long-standing relationship with Emirates. She noted that Boeing has been supporting Emirates for over 40 years, and anticipates this partnership to flourish as Emirates continues to operate Boeing aircraft for many years.

With this order, Emirates anticipates Boeing aircraft deliveries stretching until 2038. The announcement coincides with the 19th edition of the Dubai Airshow, which features over 1,500 participants from 115 countries. This major aerospace event includes 440 companies participating for the first time, along with 490 military and civilian delegations.
