Kyiv: Ukraine announced that at least four individuals lost their lives and 15 others sustained injuries in recent Russian airstrikes targeting the northeastern Kharkiv and southwestern Odesa regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS) released a statement on Telegram detailing that preliminary data indicates three fatalities and 13 injuries, including four children, resulted from missile strikes in Balakliia, a city approximately 70 kilometers southeast of Kharkiv. The statement highlighted damage to residential buildings, vehicles, high-rise apartments, and a kindergarten, adding that fires ignited by the attack were swiftly extinguished.

Kharkiv Governor Oleh Synyehubov confirmed the continued presence of DSNS units at the scene of the attack. Vitalii Karabanov, head of Balakliia's city military administration, reported that two missiles struck the city. Additionally, DSNS noted a drone strike in the village of Velykyi Burluk in the Kharkiv region, leading to one death and one injury.

The DSNS also reported drone strikes in the southwestern Odesa region, causing fires at energy and port infrastructure sites. Preliminary information indicated one injury. Ukrainian energy provider DTEK disclosed that its facilities in Odesa were attacked, resulting in 32,500 subscribers temporarily losing electricity. DTEK assured that restoration work would commence once military and rescue authorities permit, acknowledging the significant damage and repair time needed.

Ukraine's Air Force claimed its defenses intercepted 91 out of 128 drones launched by Russia and reported the launch of two Iskander-M ballistic missiles overnight. Russian authorities have yet to comment on the strikes. This exchange of accusations over targeting energy facilities continues as both Moscow and Kyiv brace for the approaching winter.
