Erdogan and Trump Discuss Bilateral Relations, Iran, and Gaza in Phone Call

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call Monday with US President Donald Trump, discussing bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments, said Trkiye's Communications Directorate.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized to Trump the importance of maximizing diplomacy amid tensions between Iran and the US. He expressed hope that negotiations would continue and assured that Trkiye would keep supporting peace efforts.

The conversation also touched on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, signed earlier this month between Trkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia. Erdogan highlighted that the agreement demonstrates a strong stance in ensuring regional stability and security.

Regarding the situation in Gaza, Erdogan noted an increase in actions by the Israeli government targeting Palestinians, at a time when the goal is to advance to the second phase of the peace process. He affirmed that Trkiye would continue to support lasting peace in the region and contribute to the reconstruction of Gaza.
