Tallinn: Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna underscored the significance of Trkiye as a key strategic partner, emphasizing its crucial role in security and political matters. Tsahkna's remarks came during discussions on bilateral ties, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Israel-Palestine issue.

According to Anadolu Agency, Tsahkna highlighted the deep-rooted excellent relations between Estonia and Trkiye, which continue to strengthen. Trkiye's climate is particularly appealing to Estonian families during harsh winters. The minister also emphasized the growing economic cooperation that complements the robust security ties, with Trkiye set to participate in the Baltic Air Policing mission next year.

Tsahkna pointed out the expanding collaboration in the defense industry, with Trkiye emerging as a significant defense procurement partner for Estonia. As NATO allies, Estonia and Trkiye work closely, with Trkiye playing a pivotal role in regional stabilization efforts, including support for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

In addressing the situation in Gaza, Tsahkna expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis, acknowledging the importance of a ceasefire and the need for humanitarian corridors. Estonia has extended aid through the UN agency for Palestinian refugees and other organizations, despite challenging conditions on the ground.

Trkiye's involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict was also highlighted, noting its strategic dialogue with the United States and active participation in NATO's response to alleged Russian aggression. Tsahkna emphasized ongoing discussions about Trkiye's role in European defense programs and the potential use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and Trkiye's military efforts.

Tsahkna reaffirmed Estonia's commitment to advocating for Trkiye's inclusion in European security initiatives, describing Estonia as Trkiye's "best friend" in Europe.
