Brussels: The EU's European High-Performance Computing Partnership Initiative (Euro HPC) announced plans to establish six additional artificial intelligence (AI) factories in Czechia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, and Spain. This expansion is aimed at enhancing AI infrastructure across the continent and driving innovation.

According to Anadolu Agency, these newly selected AI factories will join the existing network of 13 AI hubs across Europe. Euro HPC stated that this interconnected network is designed to bolster innovation and provide comprehensive support to AI startups, small and medium enterprises, and researchers throughout Europe.

The planned AI Factory in Spain will feature an experimental platform, serving as a key infrastructure for developing and testing innovative AI models and applications. This initiative aims to promote collaboration across Europe, further strengthening the continent's AI capabilities.

The establishment of the six new AI factories will be supported by an investment exceeding £500 million ($578.6 million) from the EU and its member states. This investment is intended to expand Europe's high-performance computing capacity and accelerate the adoption of AI technologies in crucial sectors.

The initiative underscores Europe's commitment to maintaining its position as a global leader in artificial intelligence. By developing, testing, and scaling AI solutions within a digitally sovereign European ecosystem, the EU aims to ensure that the region remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
