Brussels: European Parliament President Roberta Metsola announced that the body is prepared to revisit and continue efforts on the EU-US trade deal following US President Donald Trump's introduction of a framework for a prospective agreement on Greenland and his decision to retract his tariff threat against several European nations.

According to Anadolu Agency, Metsola emphasized the European Parliament's commitment to evaluating the EU-US trade agreement and strengthening ties with Congress. She remarked that a robust and strategic partnership, grounded in dialogue and mutual respect, serves the interests of all parties involved. Metsola shared her thoughts on the US social media platform X, highlighting the importance of maintaining a stable stance on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Denmark and Greenland.

The announcement follows a temporary halt on the EU's trade agreement with the US, which was put on hold until further notice. President Trump's recent meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte concluded with the establishment of a framework for a future deal concerning Greenland and the wider Arctic region. This development accompanied Trump's decision to retract tariff threats directed at several European countries, a move initially prompted by disputes over his interest in acquiring Greenland.
