Washington:US President Donald Trump has authorized the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, the convicted Fort Hood shooter, by an Army firing squad, as confirmed by the Pentagon.
According to Anadolu Agency, the announcement was made by Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, who stated that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had recommended the execution and that President Trump endorsed this decision.
The timing and location of Hasan's execution will be determined by the Secretary of the Army. Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, was sentenced to death by a military jury for his actions in the November 2009 shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, where he was found guilty of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder.
The attack resulted in 13 fatalities and 32 injuries. Hasan initiated the attack at a military processing facility as soldiers were preparing for deployment.
