Mersin:Fenerbahce Tarfin defeated CIMSA CBK Mersin 79-71 to win the FIBA SuperCup Women title for the third time.
According to Anadolu Agency, the Istanbul-based team, reigning EuroLeague Women champions, added this victory to their previous SuperCup wins in 2023 and 2024. Mersin, on the other hand, was participating in the SuperCup for the first time as the reigning EuroCup Women champions.
The match started evenly, with both teams tied at 11-11 midway through the first quarter. Mersin managed to take a slight lead by the end of the quarter, finishing 21-19. The second quarter saw the teams locked at 28-28, but Fenerbahce surged ahead to lead 38-32 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Fenerbahce extended their advantage, leading 51-40 with five minutes to go, and ending the quarter 59-48. They continued to dominate early in the fourth quarter, widening their lead to 67-50, prompting Mersin to take a timeout.
Mersin rallied late in the game, narrowing the gap to 77-68 with just over a minute remaining, and further to six points with 19 seconds left. However, Fenerbahce maintained their composure at the free-throw line to secure their 79-71 victory, becoming only the second club to achieve three SuperCup Women titles.
Emma Meesseman, named Final MVP, contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Olcay Cakir Turgut was Fenerbahce's top scorer with 16 points. For Mersin, Carla Leite scored 17 points and provided five assists, with Kennedy Burke adding 14 points and Kariata Diaby achieving 12 points and eight rebounds.
