Istanbul: Five aid workers from an Istanbul-based international humanitarian organization, collaborating with the UN World Food Programme (WFP), were killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. Two others were seriously injured, as announced by the organization late Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, IHH released a statement on X confirming the tragic loss of its workers. The organization highlighted that the individuals were working on a project in Gaza in cooperation with the WFP and were killed during recent attacks by Israeli forces over the past two days. The organization expressed deep condolences for the loss and condemned the attacks, describing them as targeting humanitarian aid workers who put their lives on the line to deliver aid to Gaza's population.

The statement from IHH named the deceased aid workers as Mohammed al-Mubayyid, Ahmed Bustan, Mutaz Rajab, Jamal al-Mubayyid, and Ishaq al-Tayf, offering sympathies to their families. The organization emphasized the risks faced by aid workers in conflict zones and called for the protection of those delivering humanitarian assistance.

On Sunday, WFP Executive Director Cindy McCain highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, warning that half a million people are "extremely food insecure" and face the threat of famine. The incident underscores the challenges faced by humanitarian organizations in conflict areas and the urgent need for international attention to the crisis in Gaza.
