Jinan: At least two individuals have died, and ten are missing following flash floods in East China's Shandong Province, as heavy rains battered the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state-backed Global Times reported that the floods were triggered by a peak rainfall of 364 millimeters (14.33 inches) in Jinan's Laiwu district, affecting two villages in Dawangzhuang Township and resulting in the destruction or damage of 19 homes.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway, with efforts being made towards post-disaster relief and recovery. The situation emerged after China issued its highest emergency alert on Monday ahead of Typhoon Wipha, the sixth typhoon of the year.

Weather officials have forecasted continued rainfall over the next three days. In response, local authorities have been instructed to implement measures to mitigate the risks associated with rainstorms, including floods, landslides, and urban waterlogging.

On Sunday, Typhoon Wipha made landfall on southern Hailing Island before progressing to the mainland in southern China. The typhoon's impact led to landslides, road closures, and the temporary suspension of train and flight operations in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
