Ankara: At least 10 people were killed and 23 others injured after a rain-triggered flash flood struck a tourist destination in northwestern China on Sunday, state news agency Xinhua reported. The sudden and severe weather event took place in Weiyuan county of Dingxi city, located in Gansu province, a popular area known for its scenic beauty.

According to Anadolu Agency, the flash flood was caused by unexpected heavy rainfall and caught many by surprise, including tourists who were camping in the picturesque area. The natural disaster has highlighted the vulnerability of outdoor recreational areas to sudden weather changes, especially in regions prone to heavy rains.

Local public security and rescue departments acted swiftly by dispatching rescue teams to the affected site. The teams worked tirelessly to assist those trapped by the floodwaters, but despite their efforts, the suddenness of the event led to significant casualties.
