Foreign Minister to pay working visits to UAE and Saudi Arabia

Bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, as well as regional and international developments will be among the issues to be discussed during the working visits that Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Constantinos Kombos, will pay to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

According to an official press release, Kombos will first travel to Abu Dhabi, where on June 5, he will hold a tete a tete meeting and extended consultations with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, the latest developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and the Gulf region, as well as regional cooperation and security, and EU-UAE relations will be on the agenda.

The Foreign Minister will then travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where on June 6 he will meet with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, followed by expanded consultations. Discussion will focus on further strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Cyprus and Saudi Arabia, the Cyprus issue, regional and international developments, as well as EU relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs will then travel to Riyadh, where on June 8, he will participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the International Coalition against Daesh/ISIS, co-hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Secretary of State of the United States, with the main objective of coordinating international efforts to combat terrorism.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Kombos is expected to have contacts with his counterparts, during which he will have the opportunity to exchange views in relation to the prospects for cooperation in the wider Gulf region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs returns to Cyprus on June 9.
