Paris: France on Wednesday condemned an Israeli airstrike that killed two humanitarian aid workers in the Gaza Strip, urging accountability and reaffirming its support for humanitarian efforts in the region. In a statement, the French Foreign Ministry expressed its disapproval of the strike on a densely populated area in central Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of two NGO employees on June 26.

According to Anadolu Agency, the French Foreign Ministry extended condolences to the victims' families and called for a swift and thorough investigation into the incident. The ministry emphasized the importance of upholding international law, particularly regarding the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers during conflicts. The statement highlighted France's commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the incident are held accountable.

The ministry also praised the courage and dedication of humanitarian personnel operating under dangerous conditions in Gaza. It reaffirmed France's support for their work and expressed solidarity with those risking their lives to assist civilians in the conflict-ridden area.

Despite international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has continued its operations in the Gaza Strip, resulting in significant casualties, with over 57,000 Palestinians reported killed since October 2023. In light of the ongoing conflict, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel has agreed to 'the necessary conditions' to finalize a 60-day ceasefire, urging the Palestinian resistance group Hamas to accept the proposal.

Last year, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in the enclave.
