Paris: French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot 'firmly' condemned on Tuesday Israel's new plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip.

According to Anadolu Agency, Barrot expressed that Israel's recently announced plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip and take control of all humanitarian aid is 'not acceptable.' The minister emphasized that such actions contradict international law.

Barrot stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire and the unimpeded access of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. He highlighted that the Palestinians living there are in dire need of assistance. Barrot assured that France is actively working alongside other countries to uphold international humanitarian law.

He reiterated that even in times of war, there are established rules that must be followed. These include not targeting civilians, not attacking humanitarian workers, and ensuring that humanitarian aid reaches those in need. Barrot underscored the importance of respecting the 'integrity' of war laws to prevent further suffering.

The French foreign minister also drew attention to the risk of famine in Gaza, urging for immediate access to humanitarian aid. He called on Israel to implement a ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of aid to the population within the enclave of Gaza.

In addition, Barrot mentioned that France is open to recognizing the State of Palestine, contingent on similar actions and commitments from other countries.
