French Foreign Minister Accuses Foreign Movements of Disinformation on Protests

Paris:French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot has accused foreign movements of spreading distorted images of recent protests in an effort to weaken France's image internationally.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Barrot stated on broadcaster France 2 that the images of the protests were "seized upon, distorted and amplified" by those aiming to harm the country's global reputation.

Barrot identified rivals and movements originating from the United States, Israel, Russia, and occasionally China as the sources attempting to weaken France and tarnish its international image. He claimed that these entities have been distorting images and crafting their own narratives about France.

He further highlighted a surge in social media posts that attribute the demonstrations to mass immigration or radical Islam, suggesting a deliberate attempt to misrepresent the nature of the protests.
