French President Calls for Iraqi Sovereignty and Stability in Call with Prime Minister-Designate

Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday engaged in a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister-designate Ali Al-Zaidi, emphasizing the importance of Iraq's sovereignty and stability for the security of the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, Macron congratulated Al-Zaidi on his new role and expressed his hope for successful governance during this critical period for Iraq. Macron highlighted the importance of a stable and sovereign Iraq as a cornerstone for security in both the Middle East and Europe. He assured Al-Zaidi of France's continued support for the Iraqi people and the deepening of strategic partnerships.

Macron also addressed the ongoing investigation into the March attack in Makhmour, which resulted in the death of a French soldier and injuries to several others. He expressed his desire for a swift resolution to the inquiry, underscoring the need for accountability and justice. The French president reiterated that France remains committed to assisting Iraq in securing its sovereignty and achieving long-term stability.
