Gaza Death Toll Nears 53,500 Amid Unabated Israeli Attacks

Gaza: At least 53,486 Palestinians have been killed in Israel's ongoing war since October 2023, the Health Ministry stated on Monday. A ministry statement revealed that 136 bodies were brought to hospitals in the last 24 hours, while 364 people sustained injuries, raising the total number of injuries to 121,398 due to the Israeli onslaught. The statement added that many victims remain trapped under rubble and on roads as rescuers struggle to reach them.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, the Israeli army resumed its assaults on the Gaza Strip on March 18, resulting in the deaths of 3,340 people and injuries to 9,357 others. This escalation shattered a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in effect since January.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. In addition, Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the enclave.
