Paris: The headquarters of Goldman Sachs in Paris has been placed under police surveillance following threats from an Iranian group. This move was reported by broadcaster BFM TV on Thursday.
According to Anadolu Agency, the decision to increase security measures came late Wednesday night after US authorities alerted their London office about potential threats. The Iranian group in question had allegedly threatened to target Goldman Sachs buildings in Paris using explosive devices. Despite the quick implementation of heightened police vigilance, no suspicious elements have been identified thus far, as confirmed by a judicial source to the French broadcaster.
This escalation in security measures follows closely on the heels of a foiled attack on the Paris headquarters of the Bank of America. In response to the attempted attack, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) announced on Wednesday that a judicial investigation has been launched. The investigation is probing charges of 'criminal association in connection with a terrorist enterprise' related to the incident, which occurred on the night between March 27 and 28. Later that day, four suspects were indicted and jailed, as reported by BFMTV from a judicial source.
