President of the European Banking Authority (EBA) José Manuel Campa, will be visiting Cyprus early next week, following an invitation from the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Constantinos Herodotou. According to CNA sources, during his visit to Cyprus, Campa will have a private meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus. He will then meet with the President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides and participate in an informative discussion organized by the Central Bank of Cyprus, which will be attended by high-ranking officials from supervised institutions and representatives from the public and business sectors. The EBA is one of the three independent authorities of the European Union in the financial sector, and its role is to ensure effective and consistent prudential regulation and supervision across the European banking sector. Its overall objectives are to maintain financial stability in the European Union and to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and smooth functioning of the banking sector. José Manuel Campa, the President of the EBA, who previously served as the Minister of Economy of Spain, has been leading the EBA since May 2019.
