Rio de janeiro: Four people were killed when a helicopter crashed in a forested area in Rio de Janeiro, authorities said Saturday. The local fire department confirmed that the victims included the pilot and three passengers, and efforts to identify them have not yet been completed.

According to Anadolu Agency, Colombian Consul General to Brazil Diana Paez informed EFE news agency that three of the victims are believed to be Colombian tourists. The identification process has been challenging for forensic teams as two of the bodies were "completely burned."

Footage on social media depicted a fire erupting at the crash site, prompting the dispatch of specialized firefighting teams. Firefighters encountered difficulties reaching the bodies due to the helicopter crashing in a remote, hard-to-access forested area.

The helicopter was operated by a company that provides scenic flights for tourists and crashed near Vista Chinesa, a well-known lookout point offering views of the city and the sea.
