Washington: The Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee voted to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify about the Justice Department's handling of documents connected to Jeffrey Epstein, NBC News reported. The decision was made after a vote that ended with a 24-19 count, where five Republicans joined Democrats in supporting the motion introduced by South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Republicans who backed the subpoena were Reps. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Michael Cloud of Texas, and Scott Perry of Pennsylvania. The Justice Department did not provide an immediate response when asked for comment, as mentioned by NBC News.

Earlier on the same day, the department announced that tens of thousands of Epstein-related records are currently unavailable online while officials work through redactions and address privacy concerns. Authorities aim to complete this process by the end of the week.

Rep. Nancy Mace expressed her concerns on the US social media platform X, stating, "AG Bondi claims the DOJ has released all of the Epstein files. The record is clear: they have not." She further emphasized that the Epstein case remains one of the greatest cover-ups in American history, and that there are millions more documents yet to be disclosed.

Mace highlighted that she needs more information for the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and criticized Bondi for not testifying before the Oversight Committee. She also referred to Bondi's previous appearance before the House Judiciary Committee, where Bondi cited stock market performance during President Donald Trump's presidency, indicating that such discussions would not be relevant during the upcoming testimony.
