The European Peoples Party has said in a post on social media that the assault on UN peacekeepers is a grave violation of the mission's mandate.

'The assault on @UN_Cyprus peacekeepers inside the buffer zone is a grave violation of its mandate' the EPP posted on its official account on 'X' (formerly Twitter).

'We strongly support @Christodulides effort to de-escalate and we urge the Turkish Cypriot side to stop provocative actions against the status quo and re-engage in bicommunal talks' the political group added.
