Abu dhabi: Debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell Sunday in the Al Shawamekh area in the United Arab Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, injuring an Indian national, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said. Authorities responded to the incident following the successful interception by air defense systems, the office said.

According to Anadolu Agency, the UAE's Defense Ministry stated that its air defenses were actively responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran. The ministry added that the explosions heard across the country were the result of interceptions. The UAE has previously reported multiple such interceptions amid ongoing tensions.

The UAE has faced repeated Iranian strikes since US-Israeli attacks on Iran began on February 28. These international hostilities have reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least 1,300 people, including the then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Gulf countries that host US military assets.
