Indonesia Lifts Ban on Grok After Assurances from X

Indonesia: Indonesia on Sunday lifted the ban on Grok, an artificial intelligence tool integrated into a social media platform by US-based company X, local media reported. The move follows commitments made by X Corp to enhance compliance with Indonesia's regulations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the decision comes after X Corp agreed to adhere to the country's laws, as reported by the Jakarta Post, citing the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs. Last month, Indonesia became the first country to suspend Grok due to concerns over sexualized images on the app.

The ministry noted that the government is reinstating access to Grok "on a conditional basis and under strict supervision." Senior ministry official Alexander Sabar stated, "The normalization of access to Grok services is being carried out conditionally after X Corporation submitted a written commitment containing concrete steps for service improvement and prevention of abuse. This commitment is the basis for evaluation, not the end of the supervision process."
