Tehran: At least 281 students and teachers have been killed in US-Israeli attacks on Iran since last month, an Iranian official said Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Hossein Sadeghi, head of the Information and Public Relations Center at the Education Ministry, reported that the fatalities included 222 students, four preschool children, 48 teachers, and seven retired education staff. Additionally, 185 students and education personnel have sustained injuries in the ongoing assault.

Sadeghi highlighted the extensive damage inflicted on educational infrastructure, with 789 facilities affected. This includes the destruction of 700 schools, 40 administrative buildings, 30 sports facilities, five student camps, and 14 cultural and educational centers.

The US and Israel have continued their airstrikes on Iran since February 28, resulting in over 1,340 deaths, including the then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. These retaliatory actions have led to further casualties and damage to infrastructure, while also disrupting global markets and aviation.
