Tehran: Iran's foreign minister has strongly condemned Israel's recent shelling of fuel depots in Tehran, describing the act as a violation of international law and an environmental catastrophe.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Iranian foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, expressed grave concerns about the long-term environmental and health impacts of the attack on Tehran's fuel depots. Araghchi took to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, to highlight the potential generational damage, particularly the contamination of soil and groundwater. He emphasized the urgent need for accountability and called for Israel to be punished for what he termed "war crimes."

The situation has intensified since February 28, when Israel and the United States launched joint military operations against Iran. These attacks have resulted in approximately 1,300 casualties, including the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has carried out drone and missile strikes against Israel and other countries in the region, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations that host U.S. military assets.
