Iran Criticizes US Response as ‘Not Convincing’ in Strait of Hormuz Dispute

Tehran:Iran has declared that the United States' response to its demands regarding the Strait of Hormuz remains unsatisfactory. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, emphasized that the strategic waterway would only be reopened once the US meets Iran's set conditions.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Rezaei made his comments on the US social media platform X, stating that the US must "respond fully and explicitly to Iran's seven conditions and fulfill them" to see the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran's conditions include a ceasefire across the Middle East, the release of Iranian assets frozen abroad, and the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector. Additional demands involve ending the US naval blockade, paying war reparations, withdrawing US forces, and halting threats and interference.

The situation unfolds amid Qatari mediation efforts aimed at resolving tensions between Tehran and Washington. A report by Qatari newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed indicated that Washington had agreed to a draft memorandum of understanding, which was presented to Iran by a Qatari delegation on Monday.
