Iran Responds Firmly to US, Urges Prevention of War

Tehran:Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf announced that Tehran has issued a 'firm and rational' response to the United States, emphasizing that it is now up to Washington to decide on preventing another conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Qalibaf, who also leads Iran's negotiating team in discussions with the US, stated during a parliamentary session that Iran is prepared for both diplomatic solutions and military confrontation. He urged the US to prevent war, noting that Iran's armed forces are at the highest level of defensive readiness.

Qalibaf warned that if the US makes another strategic mistake, it will face a new battlefield and find itself increasingly desperate. He accused the US of attempting to dominate Iran through military, economic, and psychological means, rather than relying on compliant governments. He emphasized that Iran would not succumb to military threats and cautioned that any missteps by Washington could provoke an unpredictable response.

He further asserted that Iran's military response to any renewed attack would not be restricted by geographical boundaries. His remarks come amidst indirect diplomatic contacts between Tehran and Washington, following the conflict initiated by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28.

On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei indicated that Tehran is still exchanging messages with Washington through intermediaries. He mentioned that Iran's revised seven-stage diplomatic proposal could be fully executed within two days. Baqaei also highlighted that progress in restoring security in the Strait of Hormuz relies on Washington ending its naval blockade and addressing Iranian demands, including sanctions relief and the release of frozen assets.
