Ankara:According to Anadolu Agency, Iran's negotiations to end the conflict with the United States are primarily concentrated on the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that securing this strategic waterway requires specific actions from the US.
Baqaei highlighted that discussions have repeatedly addressed issues such as halting interference with Iranian commercial shipping, lifting sanctions, and ceasing other interventionist measures. He noted that the latest US proposal to end the war closely resembles previous suggestions, with Washington continuing to emphasize Iran's nuclear program.
While Iran plans to investigate the details of the US proposal further, Baqaei stated that the country's leadership has not yet deliberated on allowing International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors back into Iran.
The conflict began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched military action against Iran. In response, Iran conducted missile and drone attacks across the region and effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies. The US subsequently enforced a naval blockade on Iranian ports.
Efforts to resolve the war have been ongoing since a framework agreement in June aimed at facilitating a final peace accord. This agreement seeks to address navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program.
