Tehran: Iranian authorities have released Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi on bail amid growing concerns over her deteriorating health, and she was transferred to a Tehran hospital, according to her foundation.

According to Anadolu Agency, Narges Mohammadi was granted a sentence suspension after 10 days of hospitalization in Zanjan. The foundation announced via US social media company X that she has been released on heavy bail and transferred to Tehran Pars Hospital to receive treatment from her own medical team.

The foundation also referenced her lawyer, Mostafa Nili, confirming that Mohammadi was released from Zanjan Hospital on Sunday. This release follows the suspension of her sentence to facilitate necessary medical treatment.

Mohammadi's husband, Taghi Rahmani, currently based in Paris, corroborated the news on X, stating that she was successfully admitted to Pars Hospital in Tehran.

Narges Mohammadi, a prominent Iranian human rights activist, was initially arrested in May 2015 on charges related to 'founding an illegal group.'
