Tehran: Iran announced plans to host Russian and Chinese officials on Tuesday for discussions regarding its nuclear program. The announcement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei during a news briefing in Tehran, as reported by the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

According to Anadolu Agency, Baghaei emphasized the ongoing consultation with Russia and China to prevent or mitigate the consequences of activating the "snapback" provision. This provision, part of the 2015 nuclear deal, allows for the reimposition of UN sanctions on Iran should it violate the agreement.

Baghaei also confirmed an upcoming meeting with the three European signatories of the nuclear deal-namely the UK, France, and Germany-along with the European Union, scheduled to take place in Istanbul on Friday. This meeting follows the E3's expressed readiness to trigger the snapback mechanism if Iran does not return to negotiations concerning its nuclear activities.

Additionally, Baghaei stated that Iran currently has no plans to engage in talks with the United States. Previously, discussions between Tehran and Washington were facilitated through Omani mediators until a surprise attack by Israel on June 13, which led to a 12-day conflict. This attack occurred just two days before the planned sixth round of negotiations in Muscat, Oman.

Iran has accused the US of being complicit in the Israeli attack, which resulted in the deaths of key Iranian military officials, nuclear scientists, and civilians. The US conducted strikes on three major Iranian nuclear sites, claiming their destruction. A ceasefire was implemented on June 24.
