Ankara:A senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning that Iran will target all US military bases and American vessels should Washington proceed with a ground invasion of the country.
According to Anadolu Agency, Ali Fadavi, head of the advisory group to the IRGC commander-in-chief, made these comments during an appearance on Iranian state television. He emphasized that if the US initiates a ground attack, Iran will respond by targeting US bases and vessels. Fadavi stated that the US understands military force, particularly the impact of missiles on their warships and bases.
Fadavi highlighted that Iran's production of military equipment surpasses the rate at which it is used, indicating a significant enhancement in the country's capabilities compared to previous conflicts. He also mentioned that Iran and Oman should enforce rules governing the Strait of Hormuz, which he said are already being implemented.
He warned that American vessels would be at risk if deployed to the region, asserting that increased tensions would be detrimental to the US. Fadavi noted that Iran had not attacked any Muslim country, but had targeted US military bases in those regions.
The remarks come as the US boosts its military presence in the Middle East, moving additional naval and military assets, including carrier and amphibious forces, and enhancing air and missile defenses at regional bases. This is amid ongoing military confrontations and heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran. Iran has frequently cautioned that US bases and naval forces could be targeted in response to attacks on Iranian soil.
