Muscat: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the recent talks with the United States held in Oman as a 'good start,' with potential for further progress. Speaking to Iranian state media reporters in Muscat, Araghchi highlighted the resumption of nuclear diplomacy between Iran and the US, which began earlier on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the discussions concluded with both delegations set to return to their respective capitals. Araghchi emphasized the positive beginning of these negotiations and expressed hope for their continuation, contingent upon decisions made in Tehran and by the US.

Araghchi noted a 'significant challenge' facing the negotiations, identifying the primary task as overcoming the 'prevailing atmosphere of distrust.' He stated the need to establish an agreed framework for the talks and the issues at hand. After eight months of turbulence, including a war, the new round of dialogue aims to address the accumulated and pre-existing distrust between the two nations.

In the course of Friday's discussions, it was agreed that the dialogue process would continue, with plans to reconvene in Muscat at a later date. Araghchi expressed caution about making premature judgments but remained optimistic about developing an agreed framework in future sessions.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei echoed these sentiments on the US social media platform X, confirming that the parties have agreed to continue the talks and will decide on the next round in consultation with their capitals.
