Ankara: Iran's judiciary said Saturday several political activists, detained in recent weeks, have been conditionally released on bail pending the continuation of legal proceedings.

According to Anadolu Agency, the judiciary stated that the releases came following the completion of initial investigations and after the detainees received formal warnings regarding 'the nature of their actions and conduct.' The statement further explained that the individuals were freed 'on an appropriate bail order and on a conditional basis' until judicial proceedings are concluded.

The judiciary also mentioned that in other cases involving detainees who had already received final court rulings, judicial sentences have been enforced, and those individuals are currently serving their prison terms. However, no further details were provided regarding the number of activists released.

The latest wave of arrests occurred weeks after protests in Iran, which began peacefully over economic grievances but later turned violent, resulting in more than 3,000 deaths, according to official figures. Iranian authorities have accused the US and Israel of backing what they described as 'rioting' and 'terrorism.'
