Ankara:Two Iranian police officers were killed and another injured in an armed attack in southeastern Iran on Monday.
According to Anadolu Agency, gunmen opened fire on a police patrol from the Nukju police station in Bampur county, located in the Sistan-Baluchestan province. The patrol was performing security duties when it came under attack.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Sistan-Baluchestan, which shares borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, has experienced frequent attacks targeting Iranian security forces. Iranian authorities often attribute these incidents to armed groups.
