Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Tuesday that Tehran is committed to resisting attacks until those he described as 'aggressors' fully regret their actions. Pezeshkian emphasized Iran's longstanding opposition to war and its dedication to avoiding conflict to protect the interests of the Iranian people and regional security. He conveyed these remarks through a post on the US social media platform X, underscoring Iran's resolve to defend itself.

According to Anadolu Agency, the president's statements come against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which has led to increased tensions throughout the region. Despite a memorandum of understanding signed in June between Iran and the US, facilitated by Pakistan and Qatar, intended to halt hostilities and provide a framework for further negotiations, Tehran has accused Washington of breaching the agreement. Iranian officials assert that US military operations and a naval blockade must cease for any reduction in tensions.

Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi communicated with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, expressing that Washington's adherence to the Islamabad memorandum could facilitate de-escalation. Araghchi also noted progress in negotiations between Iran and Oman regarding a temporary transit route through the Strait of Hormuz, signaling ongoing diplomatic efforts amidst the conflict.
