Iran: Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced early Monday that it successfully shot down five Hermes unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) along the southern coasts of the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, the semi-official Tasnim News Agency released a statement from the IRGC regarding the incident. The statement confirmed that the Hermes-type UAVs, produced by the Israeli company Elbit Systems, were neutralized as part of ongoing hostilities. These drones are capable of performing a range of missions from tactical to strategic levels.

The IRGC's statement also noted the broader context of ongoing regional tensions. Nearly 140 drones have been neutralized since February 28, when the US and Israel began their offensive against Iran. The conflict has resulted in more than 1,340 casualties, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has responded to these attacks with its own drone and missile strikes. Targets have included Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries that host US military assets. These retaliatory measures have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
