Iran’s Supreme Leader Asserts Control Over Conflict Resolution Amid Heightened Tensions

Tehran:Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has declared that Tehran will dictate the terms for concluding the ongoing conflict if adversaries resume their attacks. Khamenei emphasized that the Iranian armed forces and the nation will determine the "time and conditions" for ending the conflict should enemies engage in further military or terrorist actions.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Khamenei made these statements in a broadcast by state-run IRIB after a meeting with senior military officials. He directed military commanders to deliver an "immediate and effective response, without geographical restrictions to any potential enemy threat." Additionally, he ordered an update of target lists to ensure that all U.S. and Israeli assets are within range of Iran's armed forces.

The remarks from Khamenei followed comments by Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia, who warned that renewed conflict could expand significantly if U.S. President Donald Trump, along with Israel, initiates further actions in the region. This comes in the wake of heightened tensions following U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, which led to Iranian retaliatory measures.

Despite diplomatic efforts, including a memorandum signed between Washington and Tehran in June, tensions remain high. Disagreements persist over security arrangements and the navigation of the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
