Baghdad: Iraq’s Civil Aviation Authority announced on Saturday the extension of the country’s airspace closure to all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights for an additional 72 hours.

According to Anadolu Agency, the extension is set to take effect from 12:00 p.m. local time (09:00 GMT) and will continue until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This measure has been described as a temporary precautionary step. The authority indicated that this decision is based on ongoing assessments of the security situation and regional developments, and it will be reviewed as new developments arise.

Furthermore, the authority assured that airlines and relevant entities will be promptly informed of any updates. This recent decision marks the 29th day since Iraq initially closed its airspace on February 28, following the outbreak of the Israeli-US war on Iran. The airspace closure has been subjected to continuous review and extensions in response to the ongoing escalation.
