Ramallah: The Israeli army imposed a lockdown on several Palestinian villages in the West Bank after gunfire was directed at a military checkpoint in the occupied territory, as reported by local sources. The affected villages include Nilin, Bilin, and Kharbatha Bani Harith, located west of Ramallah, where movement in and out of the area was restricted by Israeli forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Israeli forces conducted a raid in the village of Safa, also west of Ramallah, detaining a Palestinian individual accused of firing at the checkpoint. The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth later reported that the gunfire was found to be related to hunting activities rather than an intentional attack.

Palestinian figures reveal that since October 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have been responsible for the deaths of at least 1,103 Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, with nearly 11,000 injured and around 21,000 detained. In a significant ruling last July, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories illegal, urging the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
